The UGC has sanctioned the Women's Study Centre and released an amount of Rs. 5.00 lakhs in IX Plan during the year 1999-2000. The Centre had been active in conducting various activities.
The Centre for Women studies has conducted two National Seminars, 3 workshops, four research projects, Seven awareness programmes, Two field surveys, Three Open forums and two medical health camps. The Centre has conducted 16 programmes, four work-shops and two field studies.
CENTRE FOR WOMEN'S STUDIES

The Centre for Women's Studies, Kakatiya University, Warangal came into existence at the end of the IX Plan (2000-2001). This has taken up programmes in line with UGC Guidelines. Further, the Centre mainly aims at achieving following objectives.
Main Objective:
Inclusive of exclusive as women are marginalized section Subsidiary objective:

  1. Raising Gender Sensitization
  2. Increasing Awareness of women
  3. Constructing Women's history as to their struggles and achievements.

  4. Conducting Field Surveys on contemporary problems of women in socio-economic, political and cultural areas.
    1. The ‘main objective of the centre is "Inclusive of Exclusive" as women are the most marginalized section. The achievement of gender equality is the ultimate goal to attain this objective. Moreover, women's empowerment has been identified as an instrument to move towards gender equality. Centre for Women's Studies has been concentrating on the question of Rural, Dalit and Adivasi Women's as they are the most marginalized sections of women owing to the prevalence of various kinds of inequality rooted in class, caste and rural urban divide.
    2. The issue of women can be studied only through multidisciplinary approach. Therefore, the Seminars, Workshops and Research Projects naturally involves all the Social Sciences and Life Sciences Subjects - Economics, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology, History, Law etc. and Humanities like Telugu and English literature
    3. The question of women: involves extensive activity. The centre conducts various Discussions, Workshops etc. to raise the gender awareness of students especially women students, Research Scholars, Women Employees, the women in the local self government and Rural Women.
  5. The Centre is also bringing out a bi annual journal entitled "Kakatiya Journal of Women Studies" with ISSN: 2277-6036 Number in 2013, the women's Studies Centre has been upgraded by the UGC as Department of Gender Studies and. M.A. Gender Studies has been started in 2013—14.
