-- Prof. Ram Reddy  awarded Emeretus Professor

Prof. S. Ram Reddy, Retired Professor of Botany of Kakatiya University  has been selected for prestigious Emeritus Professor Fellowship  awarded by UGC, New Delhi for his outstanding contributions in the fields of teaching, research and extension.  Out of more than 10 thousand candidates  applied  from all over India from all the faculties, 99 teachers were selected.  Prof. Ram Reddy is one among the 8 selected in the faculty of Biosciences.  He is the lone candidate in the University who was awarded with both BSR (Basic Science Resarch) Fellowship  in 2012 and now Emeretus Prorfessor Fellowship both after retirement. After a marathon service as teacher for more than 35 years, Prof. Ram Reddy retired in 2012.  The State Governemnt honoured him with the Best Teacher Award in 2008 and  the Academy of Plant Sciences, India with Plant Scientist Award. He has pubished 150 research articles, authored 20 books, edited 8 books, guided 25 scholars for their Ph.D. degree and completed eight research projects successfully. The UGC has prescribed  his books  as text books  for courses offered by Universities. He contributed his might for the development of the University  as Incharge Registrar, Controller of Examinations, Department Head and  Board of Studies Chairperson.  He visited USA, UK and Srilanka as a part of his research pursuit.  Under this fellowship, he would carry out his research in the University for two years. Botany department faculty congratulated him on his selection as Emeritus Professor.
