Our University welcomes new ideas that challenge the current order so as to create a better society for future generations. I believe our university is dedicated to enhance knowledge levels, inculcate ethical values and mould the students to grow as responsible and productive citizens, so that a sustainable democratic social order is further strengthened.

Kakatiya University was established on 19th August, 1976 to fulfill the aspirations of the Telangana people for higher education. Our University is the second largest in our State and reaccredited with ‘A’ Grade by the NAAC. It offers programmes through 8 faculties and 27 departments and with a network of 18 constituent Colleges and 485 affiliated Colleges covering three districts of the State. The University offers 222 academic programmes and meets the educational needs for 2.5 lakhs students. In addition, the School of Distance Learning and Continuing Education offers 25 academic programmes for nearly 30,000 students covering 50 learner support centres through distance mode.

I appreciate and congratulate the teaching community on the academic contribution made during the Corona pandemic by adapting to the online teaching - learning process and the students for their efforts and enthusiastic response. This was a period of great human crisis. Despite some inconveniences, the experience we gained has helped a lot in the context of change and adaptability.

The Government of India has brought the New Education Policy 2020 and we need to respond to it with preparedness and commitment to adopt online teaching with a blended approach, bring changes in the curriculum to make it more practical and initiate steps to undertake multi disciplinary research. Universities are likely to adopt the new form of blended learning, where part of the learning happens online, and part in face-to-face interaction. The University should enable a seamless navigation between these two modes of learning.

Our notable achievements include introduction of online teaching, FDP’s, seminars, online evaluation system and major reforms in the examination system. The University was awarded with SAP, UGC-DST, CSIR, ICHR, ICMR research projects. The University is in the process of establishing the K-HUB and PV Narasimha Rao –Knowledge Centre and to provide coaching for competitive examinations, personality development and soft skills. The University has achieved ISO Certification, NSS awards, Green Metric, and in various Sports and Games at National level. The University has the credit that eminent teachers at the national and International level have been produced here. The University has a good track record for placements also.

Let our University stay in tune with the changing world. We should all rededicate ourselves to quality research, welcome new approaches in teaching, research and extension activities, integrate ICT, and facilitate University-industry interface. I strongly hope that our University continues to contribute to the development of a value based and responsible society.

The University crossed the milestone of 44 years and is marching to achieve greater academic excellence in future. So let our focus continue be on our vision and stand up to the expectations of the society and the nation.
I wish the University a bright future ahead.
