Kakatiya University was established on 19th August, 1976 to fulfil the aspirations of the Telangana people for higher education. The founding of the University was in fact a historic event in the sense that heralded a new era in the realms of higher education of this region. The erstwhile Post-Graduate Centre of Osmania University was upgraded and named Kakatiya University. The development of the University over the years has been gradual but impressive.The University was initially accredited with ‘B+’ grade by the NAAC in 2003 and reaccredited with ‘A’ grade in 2009.The University situated in a sprawling area of about 640 acres, has now 24 departments and 529 affiliated colleges.The University is catering to the needs of community in the developing region of Telangana State over four decades and has grown into one of the major universities of India. Kakatiya University is one of the premier centres of higher education aiming at excellence in teaching, research and extension activities ensuring quality, access, equity, and values.The Mission of the University is to acquire commanding heights in the field of innovation, knowledge dissemination, cutting-edge research, competency-building and extension activities with holistic approach for societal needs.The University believes in inculcating competitive spirit and human values among the students promoting peace and harmony in the society. The University is vibrant with research activities carrying out the projects sponsored by various funding agencies. The Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, has identified nine Departments under the FIST while the University Grants Commission is supporting twelve departments under DRS-SAP. The University occupied 38th position in national level rankings by India Today-Nielson Survey based on performance radars.The University established memorandum of understanding with several universities and research institutes for collaborative research. Now, the university is ready for third cycle of assessment and accreditation.As part of this procedure, the re-accreditation report is prepared with the inputs given by all the stakeholders of the University.The inputs obtained are carefully compiled and documented reflecting the creditable achievements of the University after the second cycle of accreditation.The present re-accreditation report is uploaded on the University website for verification, validation, comments and necessary corrections from all the stakeholders of the University.
