KU Senate approves budget of Rs. 230.63 crore

Kakatiya University Academic Senate at its 32th  meeting held on 28th  March, 2017 has approved a budget of Rs. 230.63 crore  for the next financial year 2016-17. University Vice-Chancellor Prof. R. Sayanna chaired the Senate Meet. Commerce & Business Management Dean   Prof. M. Subramanya Sarma presented the budget  which was unanimously approved by the members.  It is estimated that the university would get a revenue of Rs. 205.82 crore and the expenditure would be Rs. 230.63 crore. With an opening balance of Rs. 25.09 crore, there would be a surplus of Rs. 29 lakhs.  While the university needs Rs. 115.87 crore towards teaching and non-teaching staff salaries, an amount of Rs. 75.75  crore  is sanctioned by  the state government as grant-in-aid. This year the govt. has sanctioned an amount of Rs. 50 crore as development budget.

An amount of Rs. 11.44 crore  was allocated for developmental activities in addition to the development grant of Rs. 50 crore. Further  an amount of Rs. 8.2 crore was earmarked for Sports Board, Rs. 1.69 crore for NSS activities, Rs. 15 lakh for Internet facilities, Rs. 34.50 crore for Examination Branch, Rs. 13.70 lakh  for University Library, Rs. 8.80 lakh for University Health Centre, Rs. 6.50 lakh  for  Welfare and recreations activities, Rs. 15.00 lakh for Student Services, Rs. 3.0 lakh for Library Automation, Rs. 10.00 lakh for plantation, beautification of campus, maintenance of lawns and  Rs. 40.00 lakh for laying of roads.

Vice-Chancellor  Prof. R. Sayanna said the University is committed to maintain quality and standards in education.  Last year, the CBCS was introduced successfully and this year the University is gearing up for NAAC re-accreditation and expressed hope to get a better rank. The Ph.D. admissions would be completed soon and anti-plagiarism software would be used to maintain quality in research. University Registrar Prof. M. V. Ranga Rao appraised the ongoing developmental  activities in the University.
