KU to host South Zone Inter University Handball Tournament for Women
The Kakatiya University at Warangal is hosting the South Zone Inter University Hand Ball Tournament for Women from 8th to 11th December, 2017. Briefing the press personnel, University Vice-Chancellor Prof. R. Sayanna said that various committees have been constituted and all arrangements have been completed for the smooth conduct of the event. Five new hand ball grounds have were laid to organize the games successfully. Teams from 46 universities with a total of 750 players are participating in the tournament. Accommodation has been provided to the players on the campus and at Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Chaitanya Degree & PG College, Warangal, he said. Dr. A.K. Tarzan of Islamic University of Science & Technology, J&K would be the AIU observer. Prof. Sayanna reminded that the University has the distinction of hosting Central Zone and South Zone Inter-University Tournaments in the past successfully and winning medals. In 2013, when the Handball tournament for Central Zone Inter-Universities was held at Kakatiya University, the Men Team of the university won the first place and the women team fourth place. Vice-Chancellor Prof. R. Sayanna would inaugurate the tournament on Friday morning on the campus. University Sports Board Secretary Dr. G. Pani is the organizing secretary for the Handball tournament. A contingent of sixteen players of home team is being trained under B.Ramesh, Caoch and M.L. Josephine is the manager of the team.
