A three-day International Conference on "Plant
Biotechnology and Molecular
Biology" was organized by the
Department of Bio-technology
during July 15-17, 2008. The main
areas covered by the conference are
Plant Tissue Culture, Plant Genetic
Engineering, Molecular Biology,
Plant Transgenics, Plastid
Transformation, Stress Tolerance,
Plant Microbe Interaction, RNA
Interference and Bioinformatics.

as Chief Guest on August 15, 2008
at 4.00 pm in the Senate Hall of the University and the
Vice-Chancellor Prof. N.Linga Murthy presided over the
inaugural session. Prof. K.C. Reddy has also released

Biotechnology from around the
world delivered twenty plenary
lectures and about 400
biotechnologists participated in the
conference. The conference was
divided into eight scientific and
technical sessions in which about
150 research papers were presented. A separate session
was also organized for poster presentation. It was for
the first time that the University had organized an
international seminar of this importance. |
