The Directorate of Self-Finance Courses, Kakatiya University was setup in the year 2003-2004 to guide monitor and promote the Self Financing Courses in different disciplines in the university including the University Constituent Colleges situated in Warangal, Khammam and Adilabad.

The Directorate has been monitoring the Self Financing Programmes of MBA, MCA, M.Sc. (Computer Science, Botany, Applied Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology), M.Com., B.P.Ed. MA (Hindi, History, Political Science, English), MHRM, MSW, PGDBI, MLISc., MTM, LL.M. About 6,500 students are pursuing their Post-Graduate/Professional courses under the Self Financing. Directorates play an important role in approving the SFC budgets of these courses with the broad guidance of the Monitoring Committee.

As per the existing provision/guidelines of the university 30% of the total tuition fee of the course is remitted into the Registrar, Self Finance Course Account and the remaining 65 per cent of the fee is being utilized at the college level for meeting the teaching and other infrastructure facilities. A separate provision of 5 per cent for Principal Office Establishment Charges from the year 2009-10. The Principals/Heads of the Departments/Colleges will prepare the detailed budget and Monitoring Committee at the Directorate level will review and recommend and send the budgets for approval to the university administration. During the last financial year 2010-11. Directorate is successful mobilizing Rupees Two Crore Fifty Laksh (approx) towards Registrar Self Finance Courses from various courses. University College of Law has started 5 years integrated course under SFC with intake of 80 students. Similarly in the year 2010-11 Department of Commerce & Business Management in the University campus started MBA SFC (Regular) with intake of 60 students.
Continuing the efforts to spread Higher Education, University has taken several measures to establish New PG colleges/New PG courses in the existing colleges on Self Financing basis a part from establishing new constituent colleges in the current academic year also with a broader objective of providing greater access and reach; University has established the following new PG colleges under Self Financing basis in the rural/semi urban areas also.The following new university colleges have been setup.

  1. University PG College, Jangaon
  2. University PG College, Bhupalpally
  3. University PG College, Mahabubabad
  4. University College of Physical Education, Khammam

This bold step is a big break through in spreading higher education in North Telangana Region. Similarly University is keen in enhancing the opportunities for girls students who wish to persue their technical/professional courses. Accordingly Kakatiya University has established University College for Women on Subedari campus and University College of Engineering & Technology for Women on KU campus.In addition to providing specific opportunity for pursuing PG programme leading to MA Gender Studies (run by Women's Study Centre).
The following PG programmes which were hither to run by University Department/SDLCE/or other colleges have been upgraded with independent department/college status signifying the need for Self Financing courses.
