10 am to 12.30 pm. TS-ICET2017 Chairman and University Vice-Chancellor Prof. R. Sayanna addressing a press conference said that as many as 77,308 students have registered so far and still students have an opportunity to apply till 8th May  with a late fee of Rs. 5,000 and  14th May, 2017 with a late fee of Rs. 10,000. The test would be conducted at 132 centres under 16 regional centres, he said. He observed that there is an increase of 4834 applications this year compared to that of last year. This year, candidates would be allowed into test  centres by 8.30 am  for taking  biometric attendance, he said. He advised the candidates to bring the down-loaded Hall Ticket, copy of their online application form and blue/black ball point pen only into the examination hall and not to bring any electronic gadgets.  He reiterated that one minute condition would be followed strictly and no student would be allowed into the hall after 10 am. Convener K. Omprakash said that all the arrangements have been made to conduct the test under the supervision of 132 chief superintendants, 33 special  and 150 local observers. As per last year statistics, there are 283 MBA and 52  MCA colleges with an intake of 28,174 and 2,334 seats respectively and the number of seats are likely to decrease, said Prof. K. Omprakash.  University Registrar prof. M.V. Ranga Rao was also present on the occasion.

The meeting of Principals, Directors and representatives of Professional affiliated colleges of Kakatiya University was held in the Senate Hall of the University on Tuesday afternoon.  Addressing the meeting, Vice-Chancellor Prof. R. Sayanna asserted that maintaining educational standards is his first priority and there would be no compromise to achieve it.  He said that the Telangana government is also very keen in respect of maintaining standards in education.   He exhorted the college managements impart quality education to the students.  “University does not mean only its campus and colleges, but  includes its all private affiliated colleges too” he said. University’s reputation depends on its colleges and there are not separate. He would interact with the college representatives frequently to sort out the issues. “You can post any issue related to your colleges to my mail directly,” he said. There should be healthy competition among colleges, Prof. R. Sayanna wished.  College Development Council Dean Prof. G. Prof.R.Sayanna(Vice-Chancellor,Kakatiya University) thanks to Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao(Cheif Minister,Telangana).

Kakatiya University Prof. R. Sayanna thanked the chief minister K. Chandra Sekhar Rao for enhancing grants to the University in the recent budget.  The block grant of the University has been hiked from Rs. 67 crore to 75 crore in the budget while giving an additional development grant of Rs. 50 crore. This gives a momentum to take up developmental activities in the University, he said.  He appreciated the special interest taken by the government by increasing the budget.  These funds would be utilized for  construction of students hostels, development of roads and  providing of other infrastructural facilities and amenities  in the universities. All the necessary steps are being taken up to excel in the fields of teaching and research and emerge as one of the best universities, Prof. Sayanna asserted.  He also expressed his gratitude to the Deputy Chief Minister  Kadiam Srihari and Finance Minister Eetela Rajender for their effort in enhancing the budget allocation to the University.

Botany National seminar
on Tuesday. University Vice-Chancellor Prof.  R.Sayanna, Registrar Prof M.V. Ranga Rao released at programme held in Committee Hall of the University.  According to the Director of SDLCE Prof. Ch. Dinesh Kumar, the eligibility test for direct admission into BA/BCom (General/Computer) would be held on 2nd April, 2017 from 11 am 1pm to  and the last date for submission of application form is 28th March.  The eligibility test application form can be downloaded from the website www.sdlceku.co.in and the registration fee is Rs. 200.  Further, students who are willing to prosecute UG, PG, PG diploma and Certificate courses in distance mode can submit their forms by 17th April, 2017.  At present, the SDLCE is offering admissions into 25 courses, and the complete details including prospectus and admission form, list of study centres, fee particulars and other details  are available in the website said, Prof. Ch. Kakatiya University Mathematics senior Prof. T. Srinivas has been elected president of Andhra Pradesh Society for Mathematical Sciences. At the Silver Jubilee Congress of the Society held at NBKR Institute of Science and Technology, Nellore, Prof. Srinivas has been elected unanimously.  The members of the elected body include Dr. T. Nagaiah, General Secretary, Kakaktiya University,  Prof. Vishwanatha Reddy, Office Secretary, S.V. University, Dr. V. Srinivas Rao, Treasurer, Anurag Group of Institutions, Hyderabad and EC members Dr. Sharath Babu, Osmania University, Dr. V. Sugunamma, S.V. University, Dr. K. Vijay  Kumar, KU Engg. College, Dr. A. Chandulala, Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, Thirupathi. Prof. Srinivas held the positions as Office Secretary and Treasurer and worked for the development of the society.  He organized the 14th Conference of the Society in 2006 at Kakatiya University successfully. The first memorial lecture of Late Prof. C. Siva Rama Krishna Rao, Retired Professor of Economics and Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences would be held at Kakatiya University on 5th December, 2016.  The department of Economics of the University is organizing the lecture in memory of the deceased professor. According to Dr. B. Sureshlal, Head, Department of Economics, Prof. D. Narasimha Reddy, University of Hyderabad and Prof. G. Haragopa, Social Scientist would speak on “Demonetization Effects on Indian Economy” on Monday morning in the Senate Hall the University.  Vice-Chancellor Prof. R. Prof. T. Ravi Prasad, retired professor of Kakatiya University has been appointed Executive Member of University of Hyderabad. The Vice-Chancellor of University of Hyderabad has communicated his appointment as EC member by the president of India. Prof. Ravi Prasad worked for more than four decades and held many administrative positions at Kakatiya University. He was adviser to  Dravidian University Distance Education Centres and member of Distance Education Council, IGNOU, New Delhi. For Kakatiya and S.V. Universities, he was member of Academic Senate. He visited Hong Kong, Thailand, South Korea, Singapore, Dubai, USA and Canada as part of his academic pursuit.  On the occasion, he thanked the president of India  for reposing confidence in him by his appointment as EC member.

 Kakatiya University retired professor of Botany S.M.Reddy has been elected President of Indian Botanical Society for the year 2016. He took charge on 27th October, 2015 as president in the annual conference of the society held at University of Jaipur from Prof. Bhatnagar of Delhi University. Earlier he worked as executive council member and Treasurer of the society. He was also the president of the Indian Society of Mycology and Plant Pathology, President of Plant Science Section of Indian Science Congress in 2006 held at Annamalai University, Tamilnadu and president of central chapter of Indian Phytopathological society and Microbiological society of India. Retired in 2006, Prof. S.M. Reddy is a popular teacher and well known researcher in Botany and Microbiology. Faculty members congratulated him on the occasion.

KU Sports Budget approved
The Kakatiya University Sports Board has approved a budget of Rs. 1.13 crore for ensuing 2015-16 academic year. ?The Board Meeting chaired by Incharge Vice-Chancellor T. Chiranjeevulu? approved the budget that mainly includes Rs. 26 lakh for expenditure ?of Sports Teams, ?Rs. 10 lakh for Sports Hostel, Rs. 2.5 lakh for Inter-College sports events, Rs. 1.0 lakh for incentives to players who excel at national level events and Rs. 20 lakh for maintenance of play fields. Incharge Vice-Chancellor Chiranjeevulu exhorted them to motivate the students to participate games and sports. ?He also request the board members to study ?the feasibility for establishing a Swimming Pool on the Campus. Sports Board Secretary Prof. B Digamber Rao said that this year 39 ?sports teams are being sent for national tournaments. ?Cash prizes are also given to the players who excelled in sports events at national level. ?Incharge Registrar Prof. Kahaja Althaf Hussain, Prof. N. KU Senate approves budget of Rs. 186.74 crore
Kakatiya University Academic Senate?at its 30th? meeting held on Saturday? morning? has approved a budget of Rs. 186.74 crore? for the next financial year 2015-16.?In the absence of Incharge Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. Veera Reddy, Senior Dean Prof. G. Damodar presided Senate Meet. Senior Professor of Commerce and Business Management ?Prof. M. Subramanya Sharma presented the annual budget which was unanimously approved by the Senate members. ?It is estimated that the university would get a revenue of Rs. 180.10 crore and the expenditure would be Rs. 186.74 crore. With an opening balance of Rs. 3.75 crore, the deficit comes to Rs. 2.89 crore. The university would get a grant-in-aid of? Rs. 67.77 crore towards staff salaries from the state government and the remaining would? be mobilized from? internal and other resources. ?
?An amount of Rs. 13.14 crore? was allocated for developmental activities which include Rs. 50 lakh? for auditorium, Rs. 5 crore for KU College of Engineering & Technology.?Further? an amount of Rs. 1.27 crores was earmarked for Sports Board, Rs. 1.72 crore for NSS activities, Rs. 7 lakh for Internet facilities, Rs. 33.15 crore for Examination Branch, Rs. 13.35 lakh? for University Library, Rs. 7.80 lakh for University Health Centre, Rs. 9.50 lakh? for? Welfare and recreations activities, Rs. 12.25 lakh for Student Services, Rs. 3.0 lakh for Library Automation, Rs. 17.00 lakh for plantation, beautification of campus, maintenance of lawns and? Rs. 30.00 lakh for laying of roads.
?Presiding over the senate Prof. G.Damodar apprised the Senate of the developmental activities of the university.? He mentioned that the Subedari Arts & Science College got NAAC accreditation with top A grade and the University is likely to go for accreditation in August this year. Apart from Youth Festival, the University has successfully conducted Central Zone Inter-University Sports in four events.? He exhorted to strive for providing higher education in newly formed Telangana State. The senate has also unanimously resolved to appoint Vice-Chancellor and also Executive Council for the University, to enhance block grant and to resolve the problem of Ph.D. admissions.
